Jey Uso’s Character Is Stale and WWE Needs to Fix It Now

By Turnbuckle Dispatch Staff Published March 30, 2026 at 10:03 am
Quick Take

Jey Uso has quietly become one of the biggest character problems in WWE. No direction, no evolution, and no payoff in sight. WWE needs to commit to a heel turn or give him something new — because right now, he is just filler in someone else’s story.

Whadda ya wanna talk about? How about Jey Uso’s lackluster character?

Jey Uso’s lackluster character has quietly become one of the biggest problems in WWE right now. And if you’ve been watching Raw lately, you already feel it. This isn’t the same “Main Event Jey” that carried emotional weight during the original Bloodline story. This version? It’s stale, repetitive, and honestly… boring.

And the worst part? WWE knows it.

Jey Uso’s Character Feels Completely Stuck

Let’s just call it what it is.

Jey Uso hasn’t evolved in a long time.

Same entrance. Same catchphrases. Same energy. No direction.

Even worse, his motivations make zero sense right now. One minute he’s loyal to Roman. The next, he’s emotional. Then he’s hyping up violence like he’s back in Bloodline mode.

Last week on Raw, Jey literally pushed Roman Reigns into attacking CM Punk. He wasn’t conflicted. He wasn’t hesitant. He called the play.

So what are we doing here?

Is he a loyal cousin? A loose cannon? A future traitor?

Or just… filler?

The Raw Segment That Exposed Everything

Jey Uso and CM Punk face off in the ring on WWE Raw
Jey Uso and CM Punk square up on Monday Night Raw.

Go back and watch the March 23 Raw.

CM Punk gets in the ring, starts poking at Roman, then brings Jey into it. That’s when things get interesting.

Jey steps up. He gets heated. Then he tells Roman to handle it.

And Roman does.

Brutally.

Punk gets destroyed, powerbombed through a table, and laid out to close the show.

But here’s the problem…

Jey didn’t gain anything from that moment.

He didn’t advance his story. He didn’t shift alignment. He didn’t even stand out.

He just existed in the segment.

That’s the issue with Jey Uso in 2026. He’s involved in big moments, but he never owns them.

WWE Keeps Teasing a Heel Turn… But Won’t Pull the Trigger

This is where it gets frustrating.

Everything about Jey screams heel turn.

  • He’s aggressive again
  • He’s tied back into Roman’s orbit
  • He’s showing flashes of that old Bloodline intensity

And yet… nothing.

WWE keeps teasing it but refuses to commit.

We’ve seen this pattern before. Drag it out. Stretch it thin. Kill the momentum.

Meanwhile, fans are left watching the same recycled version of Jey Uso every week.

If you’re going to turn him, turn him.

If you’re not, then give him something new.

Because right now? It’s neither.

WrestleMania 42: The Only Way This Gets Interesting Again

Let’s talk about where this is clearly heading.

Roman Reigns vs CM Punk at WrestleMania 42 is the biggest story in WWE right now.

And Jey Uso is right in the middle of it.

That’s not an accident.

This feels like one of two outcomes:

Scenario 1: Jey stays loyal

Roman wins or dominates with help. Safe. Predictable. Boring.

Scenario 2: Jey snaps

Costs Roman the match. Punk wins. Chaos follows.

Guess which one actually matters?

If Jey turns on Roman at WrestleMania, everything changes overnight.

  • Jey vs Roman becomes a must-watch feud again
  • The Bloodline story gets new life
  • Jey finally gets direction

Without that? This entire build feels like wasted time.

The Tag Title Situation Might Be the Breaking Point

Let’s not ignore what’s happening tonight on Raw.

The Usos are defending the tag titles against The Vision in a Street Fight at Madison Square Garden.

And here’s the thing…

Jey literally said he doesn’t care about the titles.

That’s not just a throwaway line. That’s character direction.

If The Usos lose, that could be the first real crack.

  • Frustration sets in
  • Blame starts
  • Jey spirals

That’s how you begin a heel turn the right way. Slow. Intentional. Logical.

Not whatever this current half-committed version is.

WWE Programming Is the Real Problem

Let’s zoom out for a second.

This isn’t just about Jey Uso.

WWE right now feels inconsistent, dragged out, and honestly… boring.

Even the biggest storyline in the company keeps repeating the same structure every week:

  • Promo
  • Interruption
  • Family tension
  • Beatdown

Rinse. Repeat.

Even recent Raw episodes have leaned heavily on talk segments instead of actual wrestling, which has made the pacing feel off.

So yeah, Jey feels stale.

But he’s not alone.

Final Take: Jey Uso Needs a Reset Immediately

Jey Uso isn’t washed.

He’s just stuck in a bad version of himself.

There’s still something there. The crowd still reacts. The history still matters.

But WWE has to pick a direction.

Right now, he’s floating between roles with no real purpose.

And fans see it.

If WWE is smart, Jey Uso turns on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.

If they’re not?

We’re going to keep getting the same boring version of Jey Uso… every single week.
